Donna's Hair Studio Plays Their Part
Donna's Hair Studio is a small, locally owned hair salon serving Ewing, NJ for over 30 years. They pride themselves on the personal feel of their salon experience and their acute attention to detail. Visit their website at www.donnashair.com
This is the 8th year Donna's has participated in Hope Cuts. Each year they donate 100% of their proceeds for the day to breast cancer research, a cause Donna feels very strongly about. The event will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 12-4 pm. It will be a fun filled day of salon services (including hair cuts, colors, waxing, and nails), tricky trays, raffles, outside vendors, breast cancer literature, lunch refreshments, and goody bags all for a very good cause.

What is Hope Cuts?
Hope Cuts is a an event run by City of Hope. Each year in early November participating salons in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. offer discounted salon prices to customers. Activities such as raffles are held and many Hope Cuts branded goodie bags are given out. Salons donate a portion of their proceeds to the work done through City of Hope. City of Hope is one of the few National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the country. They are an "independent biomedical research treatment and education institute." They are also leaders in the "fight to conquer cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life threatening diseases." More information on City of Hope and Hope Cuts can be found at www.cityofhope.org.

COM 370-03 Special Topics: Event Planning
We are currently taking a course in event planning where we learn everything about events from start to finish. Our notes outline various theories and concepts pertaining to events. Perhaps the most useful lesson we have learned is the Six Dimensions to the experience- the 6 A's: anticipation, arrival, atmosphere, appetite, activity, and amenities. Based on this lesson, we have planned and structured our own event. After each class we are able to apply what we have learned to what we are working on with our event. We meet as a group at least once a week prior to class and once every other week outside of class in addition to constant emails and text messages. We use these times to brainstorm, create drafts, and execute plans.

Our team is made up of 5 junior and senior Communication Studies majors at The College of New Jersey; Caitlin Coyle, Antoinette Gouveia, Lauren Lorenzo, Megan Roe, and Samantha Zebrowski. We are very excited to be working at an event with such a great cause.
